“Their enthusiasm helps to drive the business forward”
Yan Farm Health have been a crucial part of our team here at Bolton Manor Farm since 2021 when they were established. The service they provide covers far more than just the emergency cover farm vets traditionally provided. Their enthusiasm helps to drive the business forward and being a Farm specific practice allow everyone there to concentrate on improving what happens on our farms.
Andrew Crutchley has been our lead Vet, and although I believe consistency in personnel is crucial in building a good working relationship, there is no drop off in quality when someone else arrive on farm. Every member of the team is briefed with the protocols we use and how the system runs which allows the weekly visits to run smoothly regardless of who arrives.
Our farm is towards the edge of the Practices area, but this again has never been an issue, we rarely use the traditional out of hours service but particularly like the fact the vets are available on the phone or via Whatsapp whenever we need help.
The practice as a whole is genuinely enthusiastic to discuss new ideas or implement different systems even if it reduces their time on farm, this builds a strong trust which improves the team as a whole.
Yan Farm Health are a privately owned farm specific practice, this has allowed them to form a nimble, flexible team of people we wouldn’t be without.’

“Proactive in finding new ways to manage evolving health challenges in my livestock”
The friendly team at Yan provide me with a very high level of service and are prudent and proactive in finding new ways to manage evolving health challenges in my livestock. Their model is to provide the same level of service with a monthly charge to cover health planning and address area’s which the vets perceive would provide economic gain to my business. On my farm we have done pre lambing and pre calving blood tests and trace element monitoring. It has resulted in less vet interventions at lambing and calving time and an increase in fertility in the suckler herd.

“Fully committed to deliver the best care possible”
‘We have been with Yan Vets since the very beginning. When Kirsty and Andrew announced that they were setting up their own independent practice, we had little hesitation in joining them as clients. The health and welfare of our organic Dairy Shorthorn herd is extremely important to us, and we need a practice that is fully committed to deliver the best care possible, Yan Farm Health have always done that and more.
Whether it’s a routine visit on a Monday morning, or an out-of-hours call out in the middle of the night, they have always delivered. But it goes beyond just veterinary care, we have had invaluable advice and help with an ongoing bovine Tb issue, and Kirsty, with the help of other Yan vets, have not just guided us through the process, they have also ‘fought’ our corner with the Animal and Plant Health Agency when it really mattered.
We are now using Yan for routine management, such as dis-budding and castrations, as well as TBAS, training and accreditation. There are also some great social events hosted too!
Yan Farm Health are more than just a veterinary practice, they are invaluable partners in our whole farm business.’

“Exceptional at being proactive”
Andrew and Kirsty set up Yan Farm Health in recent years. Andrew is exceptional at being proactive with all aspects of dairy vet work. He is always looking at what potential issues are coming and trying to find the most efficient and effective way of ensuring the cattle are healthy and performing. In addition, he keeps things simple for operators, so it is done correctly and easily every time.
